ST. PETERSBURG — A St. Petersburg police officer was injured in a hit-and-run car crash Saturday.

The officer was responding to a call at 10:40 p.m and traveling north on 4th Street when a red 2004 Kia Spectra, driven by Jasmin Bentley, 25, collided with the officer's patrol car. Bentley was traveling south and trying to turn left onto 87th Avenue N.

The officer, whose name was not released by authorities, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Bentley fled the accident but then returned to the scene, according to police. She was also taken to the hospital.

After doctors released her, Bentley was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash involving an injury and for violating probation for marijuana possession. She is being held at Pinellas County Jail.
